Esther and David Muschel
Guests of Honor

Esther and David (Moshe) Muschel have lived in Englewood for 18 years. They have three boys, Marc married to Eli, Justin married to Lea, Jeremy married to Anna, and three grandchildren Mia, Henry and Michaela all of whom live in Englewood.

Moshe is a money management professional since 1984. His primary focus is US equities and other complementary investments.  In his down time Moshe can typically be found at a Mets, Knicks or Rangers game or a Springsteen concert.  An active member of Ahavath Torah's Board of Trustees, Moshe has been involved in a number of other communal and charitable boards and is a frequent visitor to our Shuls 7:30 weekday minyan.
Esther is a director of nursing for Personal Touch Home Care since 1985. She also serves on the Board of Personal Touch home care as well as Shaarei Tzedek's board.

Both Esther and Moshe are involved in AIPAC as well as a number of other pro-Israel and philanthropic organizations.

As children of a Rabbi, Esther and Moshe were drawn to Ahavath Torah which they felt was a unique Congregation filled with spirituality and warmth as well as a hub for chesed opportunities. Esther’s parents Dr’s Felix and Miriam Glaubach are members of our shul as were Moshe’s parents Rabbi Nachum Muschel Z”l and Mrs. Sara Muschel Z”L.

The Muschels extend a heartfelt mazal tov to the other honorees. Adam and Dana Sasouness, their neighbors and friends who have been tremendous young role models. Moshe has a special bond with and affection for, our esteemed gabbai Lenny Solomon and is so proud to be his co-honoree.

Dana & Adam Sasouness
Sephardic Leadership Award

Dana and Adam Sasouness have lived in Englewood for the past 10 years with their children Avigail, Hannah, Ella, Gideon, Emmanuel, Naomi, and Nechama.

They have proudly watched our community grow into the vibrant, diverse, young, and thriving community it has become over the years. Adam and Dana have each served on various boards and committees throughout the years offering their help and services whenever possible. They believe there is truly no other community like Englewood and are proud to support it in any way they can. 

Lenny Solomon
Community Service Award

Lenny's family came to Englewood in 1963 and became members of the shul that year. When his father died in the 1970s, Lenny became a regular at the daily minyan.  Back then, people prayed in the old shul, and later in the tent, and are now assembling in the current edifice. Much to his surprise, Lenny inherited the position of Gabbai  in the 1970s and remained in that position since. The daily minyan seems to have acquired the name “Lenny’s Minyan”.

After these many years, Lenny has met and befriended so many men and women coming to pray in their time of need. When sadness comes to each of us, he has tried to welcome all in need and to provide as much comfort as possible. May we all continue to pray together and enjoy each other’s companionship for many years to come.

Anna Horowitz
Jessie Horowitz
Young Leaders Award

Sisters Anna and Jessie Horowitz have lived in Englewood their whole lives and have been working as group leaders at Ahavath Torah since they were 12 years old. They love working with the kids and volunteering whenever they are available. They are both active participants in the annual Chai lifeline Shabbaton. Additionally, Jessie volunteers at iShine every week and at My Extended Family while Anna volunteers at Yachad. 

They are currently seniors at The Frisch School and are involved with numerous activities in addition to being group leaders. They lead Frisch’s Israel advocacy club and are both active participants in Frisch’s Israel Journal. Also, they were both team leaders in StandWithUs’s Teen Leadership council, where Jessie ran a program at Ahavath Torah for educating middle schoolers about antisemitism in social media. 

We are going to miss them next year when they study at Midreshet Harova in Israel!
