Letter from Yom Hashoa Committee PDF Print E-mail

To the Ahavath Torah Community,

With Yom Hashoa just over two months away, we continue to look to the community to furnish us with lists of those who perished in the Holocaust, be they family or friends, so that they may be included in our program. If you have already sent them in, thank you; if you had included names in the original Yom HaShoa program, and you have not already done so, please let us know if they need to be amended or left as is. We are also hoping to collect photos; preferably emailed, but hard copies can be sent as well, and will be returned- please label them. Send them either by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. As you all may know the Yom HaShoa Program was chaired and almost entirely run by Richard Friend, z'l.  We are working hard to make our community's program a meaningful and important evening.  In addition to the program, this year there will be a tribute to Richard Friend's effort to unite us in educating the next generation while memorializing the past.

As part of that effort we have established the Richard Friend Memorial Yom HaShoa Fund- its sole purpose will be to fund the annual commemoration.  We thank those who have already contributed generously, and hope many more of you will choose to be a part of this very important evening so that we can continue to host an event which has become a source of pride for our community.

Through these two important endeavors, with the help of our generous community, we hope to make a very important event all the more significant and meaningful.

Respectfully,

The Yom HaShoa Committee.
