We hope this finds you in the midst of a relaxing and enjoyable summer.
We continue to make progress with the final phase of the construction of our new Building. Interior finish work is being completed, seating in the Main Sanctuary is being installed and a myriad of construction related items, both within and outside the Building, are being attended to. Although we cannot yet predict with precision what our move-in date will be, we are expecting that we will be in our new facility by the first week of September. Of course, there are still issues which may arise that are beyond our or our contractor’s control but we feel confident that we should obtain our Temporary Certificate of Occupancy by the end of August enabling us to commence moving in to the new Building immediately thereafter.
Having said this, it is important for us to communicate that, notwithstanding our intention to move into our new structure within the next few weeks, there will continue to be items which will be unfinished or incomplete upon move-in. As has previously been explained, the Sephardic sanctuary and Mikvah will unfortunately not be completed at the time we move into the new Building. We will continue to work diligently with our professional staff and representatives from the Sephardic minyan and Mikvah to help assure that these spaces will be completed as soon as practicable. In addition, permanent seating for the Bet Midrash and Auxiliary minyan, as well as certain of the Klei Kodesh for these spaces, have been ordered but will likely not be installed by the time we take possession. There will inevitably be other “pick-up” items that will require completion after we move in and this will be a process that will probably be ongoing for weeks. We appreciate in advance your patience while these issues are addressed.
We also thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we gradually transition out of our “temporary structure” and have relocated air conditioning units, reconfigured mechitzahs and seating layouts, rescheduled and relocated minyanim, etc. over the past several weeks. We understand that this has been, and will continue to be, a somewhat unsettling period for us all but we will attempt to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. We are close to realizing the vision of our new Home and we are certain that the final product will justify any temporary nuisances we encounter.
Finally, as we endeavor to complete construction we need to reiterate the importance of our Members to make additional contributions to the Building campaign, if at all possible. For those who have already made additional pledges or who are incapable of doing so at this time, we again ask that you pay any outstanding pledges or assessments immediately.
We will continue to keep you updated as to the progress of the completion of this project over the coming days and weeks. We eagerly anticipate taking possession of our new Home which we are confident will serve our community in a beautiful and meaningful fashion for years to come.
